About Me
Hello! My name is Amy Castañares and I am a DONA (Doulas of North America) certified postpartum doula who is based in Indianapolis, IN. My journey to becoming a doula started 30 years ago with the birth of our first child, Emily. I cherished every aspect of motherhood and we were elated when we welcomed our son, Ernesto, three years later. Our family was complete and I treasured every stage and chapter of their childhood. Throughout those years I was their Girl Scout leader, Boy Scout leader, 4H leader, school room mom and so many other volunteer positions.
My B.S. degree is in Marketing and I have held sales roles throughout my entire career. I have been a Real Estate Broker since 2006 and I truly enjoy it, but I realized I still had additional time in my schedule to pursue other passions.
After our kids graduated from Purdue University and Northwestern University, they went on to have very successful careers and both currently reside in Los Angeles. We are so proud of them. I discovered that I needed to find something that would be fulfilling for me. I often missed being around babies and toddlers so it was a natural transition to becoming a certified doula. I saw our kids’ friends starting their own families and observed how much young, working parents have on their plates and I knew they could benefit from the assistance of a caring postpartum doula.
New moms have gone through so much with the pregnancy and delivery of their baby. New partners are also adjusting to a different schedule and more demands throughout the day. Often times there are older siblings that still need attention at the same time as the newborn. With my services I am able to offer support to the new mom, nurture and comfort to the newborn, and help their partner and other siblings with compassion and care.
Since completing my certification requirements for DONA, I had the pleasure of working with five mothers and each family was a wonderful experience. I knew immediately this was my calling and I look forward to working with more families that would benefit from my services.
